BMW M2 GTS

The BMW M2 GTS is the Digital Drivers race build of the M2 G87: the S58 twin-turbo straight six in the compact rear-drive coupe, rebuilt in the GT4 style of BMW's own M2 Racing and M4 GT4 on the stock-width body. No BMW M2 GT4 exists, so this car combines real parts that fit the G87 with GT4 practice: KW V4 Clubsport three-way coilovers, the M Compound brakes with race pads, M2 CS Racing 10.5 x 18 wheels with 285/645 slicks, a GT4 splitter and a swan-neck rear wing.

what this stage is about

The M2 G87 as a GT4-style race car for track days and the Nordschleife: BMW's 480 PS calibration, GT4 aero, 18-inch slicks and the stock-width body.

  • BMW S58 3.0 twin-turbo at the 2025 M2 rating: 480 PS at 6,250 rpm and 600 Nm from 2,650 rpm; the curve between the published points and the 1.7 bar boost are our estimates.
  • The M4 GT3's sequential six-speed with a 2.75 final drive, its race clutch and limited-slip differential instead of the six-speed manual and the electronic differential.
  • KW V4 Clubsport three-way coilovers, M Compound brakes with race pads, a GT4 splitter and swan-neck wing: about 180 kg of downforce at 200 km/h, about a third on the front axle.
  • 1,450 kg with driver and without fuel (estimate), 52.5 % on the front axle, stock track 1.617 / 1.605 m, 84 l safety cell.
  • Setup: ride heights 85 / 90 mm, springs 180 / 130 N/mm, brake bias 67.0 %, TC 3, ABS 7, wing at 0, 45 l of fuel.

driven in this car by club drivers and shared from the app of their own free will. The setups marked “measured” take tyre pressures, fuel per lap and brake bias from laps like these.

  • BMW M Motorsport's M2 Racing data sheet: stock 1,887 mm body, tracks 1,648 / 1,662 mm, 1,498 kg, M Compound brakes under 10 x 18 wheels
  • Dyno: R44's G80 M3 with Pure Stage 2+ turbos, forged rods, port injection and flex fuel, 889 whp and 989 Nm at the wheels, the reference of Stage 2 (850 PS is the conservative crank figure)
  • BMW's M Performance Track Kit for the M2: +200 kg of downforce at 200 km/h, the target of the GT4 aero

  • Aero kit after Vulcan Alpha's G87 parts: carbon splitter, BMW M Performance carbon side skirts and a DRS swan-neck rear wing.
  • Working DRS, usable everywhere: the flap opens 25 degrees and takes about 7 % off the drag.
  • Optional single-element wing without DRS in the garage.
  • Carbon canards, two per side, on the front bumper corners.
  • BMW M Performance carbon rear diffuser fitted by default; the second M Performance diffuser and the stock one stay selectable.
  • Chassis after the first drive: stiffer race springs (180 / 130 N/mm, dampers matched) so the car stays off the bump stops, brake bias 67 % so the rear axle brakes with.

The car

The S58 runs BMW's 2025 rating of 480 PS and 600 Nm through the M4 GT3's sequential six-speed gearbox and limited-slip differential; the road car's six-speed manual and electronic differential are removed (the M2 CS Racing's seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox would be the GT4-faithful choice). Three tuning stages follow real products for this engine, from bolt-ons with 680 PS through hybrid turbos on E85 with 850 PS to the 1,100 PS engine of BMW M's own M2 drift car.

1,450 kg in the game with driver and without fuel (an estimate: 10 kg above the M4 GT4's 1,440 kg, 112 kg under our itemised 1,562 kg), 52.5 % on the front axle, 84 l safety cell. The aero is Vulcan Alpha's G87 kit: splitter, BMW M Performance carbon side skirts, canards and a DRS swan-neck wing that opens anywhere on track (the single-element wing as an option); the race interior and the club's own wheels follow in the design rounds.

The original

BMW built the M2 G87 from late 2022: a 3.0-litre S58 twin-turbo straight six with 460 PS and 550 Nm, a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic, rear drive with the Active M Differential, 1,700-1,725 kg. The 2025 update raised the engine to 480 PS (600 Nm with the automatic), the M2 CS of 2025 to 530 PS.

BMW M Motorsport races the G87 as the M2 Racing (2025): the stock body on wider tracks and 18-inch slicks, with a 313 hp four-cylinder. BMW's GT4 car is the larger M4 GT4 with the same S58; this build puts that engine into the M2 in GT4 style.
